– Lord Buddha
On Life’s Journey Faith is nourishment,
Virtous deeds are a shelter,
Wisdom is the light by day and
Right mindfulness is the protection by night.
If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him;
If he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.
MESSAGE from
His Holiness Gurung Tulku Nima Hoiser
Delivering few words to the managing committee of Guru Pema Chhoeling Gurung Bouddha Gumba, that the Gurungs were originally Buddhists by religion but due to the lack of Gurung Lamas and proper guidance the Gurungs of the eastern region came under the influence of the Hindu religion. That is like as we do not have the knowledge of the cultivation of fruits and vegetables we were compelled to buy from others for our livelihood and totally depended on them. It is like staying at a stranger’s house to a traveller when the night befalls and when the dawn prevails we continue the journey after departing from them. whereas the journey will be completed only after reaching our own house i.e. our original religion (BUDDHISM). Since it is our great privilege and virtue to follow Boudha marga for generations.
Similarly, even all creatures can achieve Boudha Nirvana or Salvation only after we follow the path of our Guru Budha, Religion and the Sangh.
Mangalam Mastu !
History
The concept of establishment of this Gumba started when His Holiness Gurung Tulku Nima Hoiser Rimpochhe directed Late Ambar Bahadur Gurung and Late Punya Prakash Gurung, disciples of His Holiness to construct a Gurung Bouddha Gumba at Gurung Busty, North Point, Darjeeling as early as possible. As per the divine wish of His Holiness, Late Ambar Bahadur Gurung and Late Punya Prakash Gurung initiated and donated a piece of land at Gurung Busty for the construction of the monastery. Later, Sri Pradeep Golay and Sri Tham Bahadur Gurung also donated the land for further development of the monastery.
A meeting for the construction of the monastery was held at the residence of sri Tham Bahadur Gurung at Gurung Busty on 22/11/98 in the presence of Late Ambar Bahadur Gurung, Late Shyam Bahadur Gurung, Late Punya Prakash Gurung, Sri Deo Prakash Gurung, Sri D.B.Gurung, Bikram Gurung. Sri Deepak Gurung, Sri Tek Bahadur Gurung, Smt Sarda Gurung, Sri Ramesh Gurung. Sri Khemraj Ghalay, Sri Tham Bahadur Gurung, Sri Rajen Gurung, Sri Madan Kumar Gurung and Smt Hemlata Gurung. The foundation stone laying programme was organized on 12th March 2000 under the auspicious graceful presence of His Holiness Gurung Tulku Nima Hoiser Rimpochhe (Gurudev). The actual construction of the work started on 25th September 2000. It took five years to complete the first phase of the construction which led the Gumba to function with a Chaesum and statues installed in the monastery. Finally, the inauguration ceremony of the Gumba was organized on 17th, 18th, and 19th March 2006. His Holiness Gurung Tulku Nima Hoiser Rimpochhe (Gurudev) gracefully inaugurated and named the Gumba as Guru Pema Chhoeling Gurung Bouddha Gumba.

Donation
The wholehearted support and charities received from kind members have enhanced the work of construction of the Gumba to a great extent. But still, major work for completion of Guru Pema Chhoeling Gurung Buddhist Monastery is still under process due to lack of sufficient fund. The Gumba has undertaken the projects of the establishment of a library, Meditation centre, and an auditorium for the accommodation of all visitors during religious ceremonies at Gumba. The Gumba Managing Committee is facing acute difficulties to promote and spread spiritual development among devotees on the occasion of such religious ceremonies.
Hence, we solicitously appeal to all individual agencies and concerned authorities to extend all possible help in cash or kind to the Gumba Managing Committee for its smooth functioning and spreading the messages of non-violence, love and service to all mankind.
